Gangs Of London: 8 Issues That Hold It Back From Greatness

6. It's A Bit Gratuitous

Gangs of London is one of the most violent TV shows ever made. Frankly, it's up there with Hannibal, and this isn't too much of a problem for the most part, but at times it does just become a bit too much and therefore becomes depressing rather than exciting to watch.

The biggest example of this is that ridiculous, overlong torture scene in episode six, in which Marian Wallace (an over-acting Michelle Fairley) tortures a Scandinavian mercenary in a needlessly unpleasant and over-extended sequence which takes up most of the episode.

Anyone who knows Gareth Evans' work won't be surprised. After all, The Raid 2 (2014) is probably one of the most violent films of the 2010s. Still, you will need a strong stomach and if you're at all sensitive to violence, this isn't the show for you.
