2. Cancellation
A decidedly more drastic approach may be for the producers to cancel the teen show altogether, even though it has recently been renewed for and 5th and 6th Season. Yet, the logic behind the idea would be that if Finn, one of the central characters, cannot ever have his deserved conclusion on screen, then maybe none of protagonists should. Whilst, perhaps, a Tina, Artie or Sam exit could occur more organically, and less obviously, the character of Finn is simply too much of an entity to be brushed aside think Harry Potter without Harry; Doctor Who without the Doctor; Friends without Ross and Rachel. Glee was regularly billed as an ensemble but, honestly, it could well have been a star cast of Matt Morrison, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith. Old regulars such as Mercedes, Quinn and Puck have waned in significant during Season Four whilst Finn has always remained right at the forefront. As from the end of Season Four, Finn is relatively settled; he is attending college, helping the glee club for college credit and there were, of course, several indications of a upcoming Finchel reunion. Finns last episode, Sweet Dreams, was a surprisingly poignant event for Rachel and Finn and; in some ways; it may be easier to leave them unscathed. Sadly, were never going to get that Finchel Endgame reunion now, so perhaps it would be better to just leave their relationship status at its complicated and just live in happy denial.
