The character who made the show what it is today, Gordon, along with Bruce, has been the focal point of Gotham for its first four seasons, and presumably its fifth.

The only problem with the eventual Commissioner is the decisions he takes, with the character usually ending up ruining things between him and his friends, all for the sake of a new obstacle to overcome, or villain to battle.
