Gotham: 11 Key Things We Know So Far

10. Although Bruce Wayne's In It

Well, I say Batman's not in it. He sort of is. David Mazouz will be playing a young Bruce Wayne, and the scuttlebut is the first episode of Gotham will revolve around (spoiler alert!) the murder of his parents. From the looks of things he'll be sticking around afterwards, as the "serious and soulful" orphan looks to Detective James Gordon and the Wayne family butler, Alfred Pennyworth, for guidance and protection for all the aforementioned awfulness of the city he grows up in. Again it's not something we've seen much of before, save for the occasional flashback scene in films and comics - usually the one where Kid Bruce accidentally stumbles upon the structurally-worrying catacombs beneath Wayne Manor that later become the Batcave - so there could be something interesting in here. No doubt the writers will put in enough lame meta-jokes about the kid's superheroic future, but it'll be cool to see the seeds of The Man Who Would Be Bats being planted early on. Mazouz looks to be a cut above your average child actor, too, with an enviable CV of film and TV work, including a lead role in the Kiefer Sutherland series Touch. Which got cancelled, but that probably wasn't his fault. He is only a kid, after all.
