Edward Nigma's alter ego is The Riddler - who as most people know is one of The Bat's most famous villains. However, in the context of the show Ed is little more than a mild-mannered coroner and forensics specialist, and an annoying one at that. Wispy, awkward, and with a face you just want to punch, Corey Michael Smith's soon-to-be villain hasn't been well served by Gotham thus far. Maybe it's because he has been utilized primarily for laughs, always popping up in the face of Benjamin McKenzie's seething Gordon, and warbling about some sort of nonsense. Of course, it's still early in the show, and the character could obviously get some more development later. However, as it stands right now this twirp is definitely one of the show's most superfluous nods to the Batman rouges gallery.
Adam Mohrbacher has been afflicted with an obession for film since his earliest memories. In addition to his work with WhatCulture, Adam has been a contributor with Filmophilia.com, FilmMonthly.com and Examiner.com. You can also check out his personal blog here: adammohrbacher@wordpress.com.
A devoted fan of all film genres and styles, Adam gets equally giddy over the sensitive, existential musings of Ingmar Bergman, and the brawny brilliance of Arnold Schwartzenegger. He loves fish tacos and misses the work of Heath Ledger and Jack Lemmon on a daily basis.
