Gotham Reveals Classic Batman Villain Costumes For Riddler And Penguin
Season 5 is looking better and better.
Season 5 of Gotham is due to air sometime in 2019, and it's shaping up to be the most explosive entry in the TV show yet. Sadly, it'll also be the last we see of the series, with its fifth season set to wrap things up with a time-jumping finale that will eventually see Batman enter the fray, but there's still cause to be excited - if, of course, you can get over the rather horrendous-looking Bane that'll be appearing in its first half.
Longtime viewers (and detractors) won't need reminding of how Gotham has played fast and loose with the comics' source-material, but Season 5 genuinely looks set to deliver on some highly anticipated features from Batman's mythos. Ben McKenzie was recently spotted with grey hair as he takes on the part of an older Gordon, and though Gotham's showrunners have been forbidden from referring to Joker and Harley Quinn by their actual names, the analogues they have are pretty compelling in their own right, with Jeremiah Valeska set to be joined Francesca Root-Dodson rollerblade-wearing jester in 2019 too.
In short, the show is fully embracing its comic book-iness for its big finale and that approach has just been made even more evident by Penguin and Riddler's brand-new, comics-accurate costumes.
Uploaded by Twitter user Shadonut, the images in question show Robin Lord Taylor's Cobblepot with a proper top-hat and monocle, while his counterpart, Corey Michael Smith's Edward Nygma, is dressed fully in a green suit adorned in question marks from top to bottom. The latter had, of course, donned his famous green costume a few seasons back, but this is the first time he's gone all out with the look first made famous by Frank Gorshin in 1966's Batman TV show.
