4. Ed's Blackouts Revealed

Throughout the final season thus far, Ed Nygma has been plagued with worry over his blackouts. Unable to cope with the mystery of it all, the green-suited man decides to get some answers this week and, while the execution of said answers are a little problematic (more on that later), it's safe to say that viewers will be satisfied to have an ending to this seemingly never-ending tale.

It hasn't been all bad, as there have been plenty of enjoyable moments throughout Ed's quest for answers (the Batman Forever Easter Egg in the previous instalment, for one), but considering the series is somewhat tight for time, this storyline has carried on far too long.

This final season will contain only 12 episodes — five of which have already aired. Surely, the writers could've wrapped it up a bit quicker than that? Mind you, at this stage, let's just be thankful that we know who the perpetrator is, and that the storyline can finally get a move on.

3. Selina's Downfall

Selina has never been one to abide by the rules, but she's never killed someone. Until now, that is. After stabbing Jeremiah in the previous episode, she's hailed as a hero by many of the city's residents - including Barbara Kean. It's all pretty celebratory - until Bruce reveals his true feelings on the matter.

While some of Gotham's character development has been a bit too quick and hasty in the past, the writers have played Selina's arc out really well. Their iteration of the comic book character has never been opposed to breaking a few rules, but she's always been more good than bad, which differs greatly from the version we know from the comics.

Using Ivy's root cure as a way of allowing the character's dark side to come out is a great move on the writers' part, as it doesn't come across as a contrived personality change, but rather a believable one.

With it being Gotham's final season and all, it's possible that Selina will never be cured, as this dark side will likely separate her from Bruce's light, putting them on opposite sides of the law.
