Gotham Season 5: 4 Ups & 1 Down From 'Pena Dura'

1. Jeremiah's Twisted Plan

Jeremiah Valeska Gotham Season 5
Fox

After months of anticipation - not to mention fears that we might not even see his plan come to light due to Gotham being in danger of cancellation - fans were understandably upset when Jeremiah was murdered by Selina in last week's episode, after an all-too-brief appearance.

Thankfully, it was all just smoke and mirrors on the antagonist's part. Turns out that he wanted Selina and Bruce to believe he was dead, as he has something much bigger planned - something that his two nemeses cannot know about yet.

You'd think the biggest takeaway from the concluding moments would be that Jeremiah is very much alive and well, but - in typical Gotham fashion - this isn't the case, as there's another twist. While we're not sure on the ins and outs of it all just yet, we're given a glimpse at the mad man's master plan for Bruce - and it seemingly involves Thomas and Martha Wayne - or people that look like them, at least.

It's a sick game Jeremiah is playing, but that's what makes it so damn brilliant. The Gotham writers sure know how to up the ante, that's sure. It's a shame that the series is on a break next week, but this conclusion is likely all the incentive viewers need to keep watching.
