Hannibal: 10 Things That Would've Happened Next

5. I'll Have The Bill Please

Making up 90% of The Silence of the Lambs story, aside from Clarice, the other biggest missing piece of the puzzle was Buffalo Bill. The story of the man who put moth pupae down his victims throats even inspired the classic poster for the film, so if Hannibal was going to make it to seven seasons, some iteration of Bill would have turned up.

Buffalo Bill (real name Jame Gumb) was the story's biggest villain alongside Lecter and Frances Dollarhyde. Played by Ted Levine in Silence of the Lambs, Buffalo Bill became synonymous with horror villains, and even managed to out-horror Hannibal. Fuller must have had an idea to either include Gumb, or find a way to create the character again like he did with Lass.

Possibly sensing the show's end, Fuller moved the formula for his seasons up. Season 3 of the show packed in a hell of a lot into it, combining both the Hannibal and Red Dragon novels, which presumably meant that Silence of the Lambs (aimed for Season 5 and 6) would have become the sixth the final seasons. With the show cancelled we will never know, but presumably Fuller had a vision.
