6. Where Is Hannibal Going?
This we know for certain: Hannibal is on a plane. Every incarnation of the Hannibal Lecter character from the page to the screen has shared a distinctly European sensibility, but that is a relatively vague clue at best. The world is a large place, and Hannibal Lecter has proven quite a slippery figure when taken out of his home town of Baltimore, Maryland. Lecter is a man of fine tastes - his artwork, wines, and even his "memory palace" suggest that he would be most comfortable in a place thick with refined culture. In Hannibal (the novel and film), Dr. Lecter found himself quite at home in Florence, Italy, but that was set after his extended incarceration with Doctor Chilton, while this show remains definitively a prequel to that series of events. There is one tantalising detail that may offer a clue as to where he's headed: The stewardess on the plane offered Hannibal champagne in French. While this may just be another leg on a longer journey Hannibal and Bedelia are taking, perhaps going to the culinary capitol of the world is not such a far fetched idea for this master chef.
