Hannibal Season 2: 10 Reasons You Should Be Watching
10. The Supporting Cast
There is much praise to bestow upon the pair of leads (and I will get to them, don't worry) but their performances wouldn't work nearly as well if they didn't have an excellent Supporting and Guest cast to back them up. The supporting cast of this show features a range of extremely talented actors, from Gillian Anderson to Eddie Izzard, all playing characters with dark pasts and intriguing secrets. The world in which this story takes place is one full to bursting of the most calculating sorts of people - from serial killers to tabloid reporters. All these characters, from the previously established (Dr. Fredrick Chilton and Freddie Lounds) to the original (Abigail Hobbs) have their own agendas and emotional issues, spicing up the procedural elements nicely. Lawrence Fishburne in particular deserves kudos for giving an obsessive weight to all of Jack Crawford's increasingly manipulative actions, making him almost as despicable as Hannibal in how he exploits Will Graham's abilities.
