2. It's A Great Comedy
This may seem like a random point and one that seems terribly obvious for me to be even mentioning, but it's worth a point -
Happy Endings is a good freaking show. It really is, particularly when you look around at the state of single-camera comedies and limp sitcoms that are just re-runs or revamps of more successful shows twenty or even ten years ago. That isn't to say that
Happy Endings is a wholly original concept - the idea of six close-knit friends and family is basically using the template from Nineties classic Friends, but my God does it revitalise and use the concept again in a fun, sparky way. The offbeat one-liners, the manic pacing, the outlandish plots and the incredible fun and warmth anchoring the whole thing. It doesn't matter if it's Jane and Brad being the best functional couple on TV or Penny and Max's odd couple escapades, it's consistently one of the funniest and most light-hearted, engaging and warm comedies out there. The fact that every episode has at the very least a solid handful of great quips and one liners speaks to how successful the show is at making us laugh and making us feel good.
