Heroes Reborn: 10 Ways To Get The Return Right

7. Claire Bennet And Peter Petrelli Need to Be Engaging Protagonists

Alongside Hiro, Claire and Peter were probably the two most prominent heroes from the very beginning and as such serve as our Peter Parker, Iron Man or Clark Kent on the show. The difference is that even without their superhero personas, the everyday personalities of these comic book icons are engaging enough. Could the same be said for Claire and Peter? If Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia are going to continue their roles as the chief protagonists of the show, we need to see some development between season four and now. The character of Claire demonstrated some growth towards the end; moving out of the shadow of her father and then opening demonstrating her powers to the world; will she serve as a quasi-Tony Stark type role where her real identity and hero persona are as well-known as each other? Will she have another side to her character, or will the former cheerleader simply be Claire, hero of the people? As for Peter, with his brother dead and his father disposed of, he was finally starting to come out of their shadows to become someone in his own right. It was interesting to see how he used his role as a paramedic in season four to help save those in need. We need to see how far he has come five years later and like Claire (and Hiro) we need protagonists that are engaging week after week; heroes that we can root for to save the day!
