House Of Cards Season 5 Review: 7 Ups & 3 Downs

4. Election Night Is Insanely Tense

One of the season's biggest plots involves the Presidential election between Frank Underwood and Will Conway, which turns out to be one of the most brilliantly suspenseful narrative arcs the show has ever pulled off.

What really makes this chunk of the season so good is the genuine tension, as there's a constant see-saw between Underwood and Conway, and it's clear that either man could eventually pull off the win. The election spills over several episodes, but it never feels like it's outstaying its welcome.

Needless to say, things take a very House of Cards turn in the end, and America's deeply flawed electoral system is thrown some terrific shade throughout.
