House Of The Dragon Episode 3 Review - 9 Ups & 1 Down
7. Up - Someone not named Targaryen riding a dragon
"Dracarys!"
Viewers may have known it was coming, but it didn't make it any less exciting. House of the Dragon flaunted their latest exciting development in Second of His Name: dragon riders not named Targaryen! The obvious highlight of said development takes place in the battle on the shores of Bloodstone; as the hopelessly outnumbered Daemon prepares to engage oncoming Triarchy soldiers in an epic last stand, the Prince is rescued when said soldiers are obliterated by a blast of dragon fire. The crackling white hot flames are revealed to have come from the dragon Seasmoke; the latest addition to HBO's dragon ranks bears the brash Laenor Velaryon, son of the Sea Snake Corlys, on his back.
Laenor's first scenes atop Seasmoke are particularly cheer worthy; the silver haired Velaryon roars the immortal "Dracarys" line and whoops gleefully as he and Seasmoke swoop in to save Daemon before proceeding to inflict a Westerosi version of Armageddon on the tactically challenged Crabfeeder and his forces, culminating in the fiery destruction of the archers who had proved such a thorn in the Velaryon force's sides.
The exciting new development honored all the iconic dragon related HBO touches fans will fondly recognize, while providing a tantalizing sneak peek into the fact that Westeros currently houses a family who can rival the Targaryens in the air. Avid Martin fans will know that House Velaryon and their dragons have a vital role to play in the wars to come; just hold on to your seats.
