House Of The Dragon Episode Ten Review - 9 Ups & 1 Down

7. Up - Foreshadowing the Dragonseeds

House of the Dragon
HBO

The Black Queen foreshadowed one of Fire and Blood's most intriguing sub-plots; the Sowing of the Seeds. This bizarre name alludes to "dragonseeds"; Targaryen or Velaryon bastards who, through the virtue of their Valyrian blood, are able to claim dragons. Daemon points out that in addition to the Blacks possessing superior dragon power to the Greens, there are multiple unclaimed dragons that could potentially be added to the war effort; all they require are riders.

As such, fans can expect to see this storyline play out in the next season and HBO weren't done ramping up the excitement levels just yet. In a stunningly captivating sequence, Daemon is seen singing in High Valyrian to a colossal bronze dragon in an underground cavern on Dragonstone. While the episode stops short of confirming the identity of said dragon, logic leads this writer to believe it is none other than Vermithor. The mount of the late King Jaeherys, Vermithor is an ancient gargantuan beast. While slightly smaller than Vhagar, the bronze behemoth is more than capable of matching her in terms of ferocity and experience.

The importance of potentially adding a weapon of Vermithor's calibre to the Black's army cannot be understated, particular after the unabatedly savage demonstration of Aemond's mount's destructive power in the episode's climactic sequence. Vhagar may seem like an indestructible force of nature compared to Arrax, but it will be enthralling to see how events transpire if and when the legendary behemoth tries to pick on somebody her own size.
