How DC Can Craft The PERFECT Shared Universe On HBO Max

2. Reboot Titans & Leave Doom Patrol Alone

Swamp thing
DC Universe

Doom Patrol should be DC's Legion - its weird show that is basically unconnected from every one of its other properties, with only some minimal references to the wider comic book universe. Now that's out of the way, let's get to Titans...

Titans, in my personal opinion, is badly written - the characterizations are all over the place, heroes and villains alike seem to be constantly being killed off for no good reason, and the second season just repeated every character arc from the first. The cast is great, however.

So, DC should retain the same actors, but replace the writers. Also, the HBO debut of those characters should not be more Titans.

Instead, it should be Batman & Robin, with Brenton Thwaites' Dick Grayson as Batman and Curran Walters' Jason Todd as Robin. Or, if Todd dies in the next season of Titans, use that as an excuse to bring in Umbrella Academy's Aidan Gallagher to play Damian Wayne and give Thwaites' Grayson a less serious personality via the reboot so that Morrison or Tomasi's Batman & Robin runs can be adapted.

This is how DC would set up its core roster of heroes for its HBO-verse after exploring the mystical side in Justice League Dark and the cosmic arena in Green Lantern. Then, after Batman & Robin, it could finally return to the Titans themselves and deliver a proper live action take on those characters.

Just two more Titans-related things:

The 'heroes committing murder' thing has got to stop. And that moody blue colour scheme the show uses? That's got to go too.

A little vibrancy in your comic book shows is healthy.
