8. Why Weren't Lily And Marshall's Families At Their Wedding?

The reasons for this are pretty clear: Getting that many actors into one place for what would probably only be one or two scenes would've been too hard. But that doesn't the change the fact that Marshall and Lily's families were completely missing from their nuptials.

We see a couple wide shots of the main ceremony and the reception, but neither family is seen or even mentioned in passing. Lily's cousin, who does Marshall's hair, is there, as is Lily's grandmother. But that's it. Sure, her dad was still a deadbeat at this point, but her mother?

As for Marshall, one of the recurring traits of his character is how close he is with his immediate family, especially his parents. And yet neither of them are seen or heard from, and given their obsession with their son's life, you'd think they'd play a pretty large part in his big day.

That's not the only time families are strangely omitted from a wedding in the show, as Ted's family is also absent in the run-up to his and Stella's union (though the short notice might have something to do with that), and Robin's sister is only seen once in the final season, despite it being entirely about Barney and Robin's wedding weekend.
