However, in a perceived ‘maturing’ of the couple’s relationship, Marshall decides that he won’t pick Lily up from the airport.

But when he realises that there is a chance that Lily will arrive microbrew in hand, with no Marshall in sight, he decides to go to the airport with a brass band to greet Lily.

Like taking someone to Paris on a second date, Marshall inextricably sets the bar way too high for the next airport pickup. Imagine the opening scene from Love Actually, but with a few tinnies. Magical.
