9. William Zabka
In his first appearance during the show's eighth season, Karate Kid star Billy Zabka was used to surprise Barney during his bachelor party. His cameo was hilarious, mainly because he spends the whole episode dressed as an unsuspecting clown.
But whilst his one-episode was great, his involvement in the series for some reason carried on. Playing a fictionalised version of himself, Zabka isn't just invited to Barney and Robin's wedding, but he's briefly the best man. Because reasons.
Worse still, he's somehow involved in all the final season's biggest drama, from Ted's struggle to regain Barney's trust to the group's debate about whether to invite elusive guest Blauman to the wedding at the last minute.
Zabka's extended role is distractingly strange, and not nearly as funny as the writers clearly think it is. The actor may be an endearing guy, but How I Met Your Mother just wasn't the place for him.
