How I Met Your Mother: All Halloween And Thanksgiving Episodes Ranked Worst To Best

Blitzgiving mostly ends Ted's feud with Zoey, but it's really the lead-up to their resolution that makes this episode so fantastic. It's interesting to watch the group dynamic that evolves out of Ted's continued hatred while all of his friends have so thoroughly embraced his nemesis as one of their own. This leads to an ending that sweetly reminds us just how many of our own wounds we can heal by practicing empathy for a rival whose human problems we may not have taken into consideration.

The actual Blitz, though? He's another story.

Jorge Garcia does alright with the role, although his one-note jokes get old pretty fast. It's also nice that our first Thanksgiving with the gang after Slapsgiving and its sequel has found yet another way to make Barney squirm, especially after one of his most sociopathic moments ever toward the beginning of the episode. Yet this, too, becomes quickly repetitive.

Ultimately, this episode does have a lot going for it. Some quick running jokes, like the series of short scenes establishing why the gang needs Zoey's oven, land really well. And it's always nice to see college-aged Ted and Marshall share a sandwich together. But it's still not the strongest Thanksgiving episode by a long shot.
