How I Met Your Mother: Every Season Finale Ranked Worst To Best

Miracles is an interesting episode, mainly because it takes a while to get going. But once it does, it makes it clear just how monumental its developments are going to be moving forward.

At the centre of the episode, Ted is involved in a car accident and, though unhurt, realises he wants to be with Stella, the girlfriend he thinks he's dumped but actually hasn't. Meanwhile, Marshall tries to prove the existence of miracles, and Barney races to be with Ted despite their recent fall-out.

Admittedly, the Ted/Stella misunderstanding is the least interesting aspect of the episode, but thanks to Marshall and Robin's hilarious bickering about miracles and the final act, which shows Barney getting hit by a bus, making amends with Ted, and slyly revealing to the audience that he's in love with Robin, the episode truly shines.

With its various cliffhangers, the episode closes season three up with the promise that things will never be the same again, for better or worse.
