When How I Met Your Mother was starting to approach its endgame...
After the revelation that Barney was getting married at the end of last season (and the knowledge that Ted would meet his future wife at the same wedding), How I Met Your Mother was slowly approaching its endgame. While season seven generally isn't considered as strong as the seasons around it, it does start to sow the seeds for the storylines the gang venture on in the final two seasons.
Barney and Robin grapple with their feelings for each other despite being in relationships, Ted starts to question where he wants to be in his life (finally starting to grow into the man ready to meet the Mother), and Lily and Marshall go through their next natural life step of pregnancy, while considering what life sacrifices need to be made to start a family.
There's still some classic moments in this more underrated season too, including the return of Victoria, Robin's bad news and major new developments in the love triangle between her, Ted and Barney, all followed by one of the strongest finales in the show's history.
