How I Met Your Mother: The Best Episode From Every Season

7. Season 3: Spoiler Alert

How I Met Your Mother Robin Sparkles
CBS

Season 3's Spoiler Alert follows Ted's new relationship with a woman named Cathy, who, for some reason, Ted's friends don't seem to like. This baffles Ted, who doesn't see anything wrong with her. The gang then finally confesses to Ted that Cathy talks too much, and, after a sound cue of glass shattering, Ted sees past this blind spot in Cathy he missed before.

After learning the truth about Cathy, the rest of the gang reveal flaws about each other that they never noticed before: Ted always corrects people, Robin overuses the word literally, Marshall sings everything he does, Lily chews loudly, and Barney often spaces out, speaks in an annoying falsetto voice, and overuses dumb catchphrases.

These revelations lead to a massive fight within the group. When Robin starts singing a nonsense song Marshall sang months ago, he suddenly remembers the password he needs to see his score on the BAR exam. When he learns that he passed, the gang celebrate together, and suddenly seem to not mind each other's annoying habits.

Not only is it hilarious to see each character's flaws exaggerated, it's also heartwarming that they all still love each other in spite of these quirks. For this reason, Spoiler Alert beats out the likes of Wait For It, How I Met Everyone Else, Slapsgiving, and Miracles to become the best episode of How I Met Your Mother Season 3.

Plus, the final scene of the episode, in which Ted bumps into Cathy and her deaf fiance Daniel and signs to Daniel that Cathy talks a lot, only for the screen to read "(Glass Shattering)," is one of the funniest scenes in the series.
