10. Joy's Blatant Alcoholism

Though the writers should probably be commended for not turning this into yet another lame subplot, it becomes apparent pretty quickly that Joy's in the throes of crushing alcoholism, even though nobody really draws any attention to it (apart from Davos, though his hardline approach to anything fun means it doesn't really count).

In the first half of the season in particular, barely a scene goes by where Joy doesn't have a glass of wine in her hand, to the point that it's actually distracting.

It's certainly more subtle than devoting numerous scenes to her struggling with the booze. Plus, the fact she's a functioning alcoholic is completely believable, even if it feels totally out-of-step with the show's otherwise clunky, heavy-handed approach to character development and drama.
