Iron Fist Season 2: 19 Easter Eggs & References Explained

15. Typhoid Mary

Alice Eve Typhoid Mary
Netflix & Marvel Comics

It's not terribly surprising that Alice Eve's tortured kinda-villain Mary Walker is ripped straight from the comics, though considering how the show decides not to use her more fearsome paperback moniker Typhoid Mary, you'd be forgiven for missing the connection.

Walker has a roller-coaster ride of an arc throughout the season, initially being introduced as a scatty new love interest for Danny before it's revealed she's a P.I. hired by Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup). Furthermore, in addition to having some fancy sword skills up her sleeve, she also suffers with dissociative identity disorder.

Much like the comics, it's ultimately revealed that she has three competing personalities at play: the shy and retiring Mary, the forthright soldier Walker, and the blood thirsty third "alter", better known as Bloody Mary.

Though the execution of the switching personalities was undeniably goofy, there's a lot of potential for the character, so hopefully she might show up next in Daredevil (which, aptly enough, was the comic series she also debuted in).
