It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia: 10 Best Recurring Jokes
2. Rum-Ham
"Rum Ham! I'm sorry Rum Ham!"
Never were more emotional words said in an episode of Always Sunny. Well, that's not entirely true, but the heartbreak that Frank Reynolds experienced after losing his precious rum-soaked ham at sea in "The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore" was certainly memorable.
After this episode - when the rum-ham made its first appearance - the alcoholic meat became a massive motif for the fanbase, as they loved the concept of Frank's unconventional alcohol. This led to the meat becoming a recurring joke that doesn't show itself too often but always gets a significant reaction when it does.
From its first appearance, rum-ham has come along in two further episodes and even found its way into the mobile game. Despite its lack of screen time, it's easily one of the best-remembered gags in the series and has gone on to become synonymous with the show, meaning that it doesn't have to show up in every other episode to get a laugh.
The horrible delicacy has even found its way into real life, with viewers working to make their own version of the beverage/dish to very mixed results.
