If Dee is the biggest victim from inside The Gang, then Cricket is the biggest from the outside. The former Matthew Mara is a big part of the show's appeal, as he is a physical example of the toll that being a part of Paddy's Pub can take on a person.

Audiences are first introduced to Rickety Cricket as Father Matthew Mara, a successful and charming young priest who comes to investigate Paddy's stain that is shaped like the Virgin Mary. Soon, The Gang end up convincing Dee to seduce Matty, and he ultimately leaves the church for her, only to find out that it was all a trick.

From then on, his life spirals into an absolute disaster, with himself and others even calling it the worst possible life imaginable. His physical transformation is evident as well, as his time on the street, and injuries from experience with Paddy's destroy his former looks.

Unlike other entries, this is an awful deed that slowly occurs throughout the entire show, as the running destruction and dehumanisation of this formerly happy man is abhorrent and wrong, yet still utterly hilarious to witness.
