The king of the rats himself, none other than Philadelphia's own Charlie Kelly.

In a show featuring a gang of depraved sociopaths, Charlie is arguably the nicest in the group. As such, he is brutally walked over by the Gang who leave him to do "Charlie Work"; the tasks deemed to gross to even attempt by the other proprietors of Paddy's Pub, the highlights of which include cleaning toilets, "tricking" the carbon monoxide detector in the basement and covering up the bar's toilet when the health inspector comes knocking! Let's not even get started on his reading.

Charlie's illiteracy gets the Gang into trouble throughout the series run, such as when he mistakes "Prize" for "Pride" and puts the entire bar up as a dance competition prize. As such, he is mercilessly mocked by the Gang and relegated to the role of janitor, despite being the biggest investor in the property by far. Charlie spends most his days bashing rats and sniffing glue, before he retreats to his apartment at night to share a bed with Frank, often after a game of Night Crawlers. This is obviously all taking place when he's not fishing for sea scorpions, barfing a million blood "capslets" into an unsuspecting woman's face or searching for honey in hornet's nests.

Enough about Charlie; how many of his epic ripostes can you recall?
