Jessica Jones: 11 Things From The Comic They Didn't Show

4. She Really Was Jewel

The origin of Jessica in Alias had numerous elements that weren€™t brought to life in Jessica Jones. In the comic, it shows that Jessica was a shy, awkward teenager who actually attended the same high school as Peter Parker and had a crush on him. She is smitten by Peter and nearly gets bitten by the spider that granted him his powers whilst on the same school excursion. Later that day, she is almost hit by the same truck that blinded Matt Murdock and heightened his senses. Jessica is a completely different person before she ends up crossing path with Killgrave. Her attitude towards the superhero crowd is one of admiration and love, highlighted by a scene in which she masturbates to a poster of Johnny Storm. Which is ridiculous, because everyone knows The Thing is where it€™s at. After fate catches up to her, she gains her powers when a military truck collides with her car, killing her family and spilling experimental material on her. Jessica goes about testing her new abilities and ends up nearly drowning during her first flight, only to be rescued by Thor and then vomit all over his shoes. She accidentally becomes a hero when she crash lands on the Scorpion who is in the middle of robbing a laundro-mat like a confused frat boy on a panty raid. In the show, Jessica scoffs at the costume presented to her by Trish, as well as the name €˜Jewel€™. However in Alias, this was the superhero identity that Jessica adopted and the costume was exactly as shown in Jessica Jones. Jones was a legitimate superhero who fought crime up until Killgrave brought her happiness to a screeching halt.
