Jessica Jones T.V. Series To Be Set in Marvel Film Universe
Tony Stark and Stark Industries are in her current pilot script but there are restrictions on what can be referenced.
A.K.A Jessica Jones, the television adaption of Marvel's dark detective comic Alias, will be set in the same universe as Marvel Studio's recent cinematic outings. Speaking to HitFix, writer and executive producer Melissa Rosenberg confirmed it will be set in the same universe as the upcoming The Avengers movie, but she added 'there are a lot of boundaries on who you can and can't use'. The series follows a former super heroine turned private detective, who finds her services sought by clients with super hero connections. Rosenberg, script writer of the Twilight saga and former writer for Dexter, admitted there are problems in working in a world already established on the big screen. It's very tricky navigation there. You can't mention one guy because Fox has the rights to that guy and Universal has the rights to the other one. She went on to add, we are in no way denying that this universe exists. And as much as I can I'm going to pull everything in from there that I can use. She also revealed that Tony Stark and Stark Industries are in her current pilot script, but is unsure if those references will make it into the finished product, saying As we go along things will alter in terms of what is made available to us. Certainly don't expect Robert Downey Jr to be showing up on set, at least not in the early days anyway. No word on a release date yet, but Rosenberg is hopeful that the series will be on ABC's Fall 2012 schedule.
