As soon as this fight began, it was obvious that Megumi didn't really have much of a chance against Sukuna. Sukuna had already shown an absurd amount of power by utterly annihilating a special grade curse, so chances are that Megumi wasn't going to be a match.

While their assumptions were right and Megumi took a pretty solid ass whooping from Sukuna, he did show far more heart during their battle than most would've imagined. By using his Shikigami to attack, but mostly trying to get away from Sukuna, Megumi proved to everyone watching that although he was a low grade sorcerer he also had plenty of talent.

This talent and toughness of Megumi also doesn't go unnoticed by Sukuna either, who says it outrightly. Something tells us that the cursed spirit might have plans for Megumi in the future.
