Season 4
Episode: Outlaw
Quote: "Maybe I'm crazy, or I'm just having a hell of a day but... did you just give me an order?" Raylan Givens follows his own rules this is an example of what happens to you when you try to tell him what to do. Despite his shaky relationship with Boyd Crowder, Raylan comes to the rescue here and saves both him and old flame Ava from an untimely demise. He arrives just in time to see the hitman who killed Browning and Keener, dressed as a Harlan County sheriff's deputy. This rouses Raylan's suspicion and leads to him questioning the deputy about who sent him and why. When the answers fail to satisfy, they both draw on each other with Raylan gunning down the phoney lawman. What I like most about this scene is just how offended Raylan becomes at being told to do something by the 'deputy'. Luckily for him his suspicions are correct about the man being there to kill Boyd, but at the time of the shooting he quips that he hopes he's right about the identity of the hired killer. Does this mean that Raylan would shoot a man for simply giving him an order? Look out, Art Mullen.
