1. The Resurgence Of 2D Animation

Though 2D Animation was extremely prevalent in film ever since its creation, it has about died out as a blockbuster story vehicle since the rise of 3D, CG animated films. It's still fairly popular in TV animation, but it's been a minute since a fully 2D feature has gotten such buzz - apart from the films based on existing TV series, such as Teen Titans Go and My Little Pony, or a few 2D films out of Japan that have achieved indie darling status.

Streaming platforms have provided more and more outlets for animated projects deemed too much of a risk by big studios. Netflix alone has funded multiple creative and groundbreaking animated projects, with few other broadcasters apart from Cartoon Network doing the same for newer IP.

But Klaus, as a film rather than a TV series, may start a trend of original animated films, many of which may bring back the sorely missed artform of the 2D feature. And with Netflix's streamed films starting to make their way into theatre runs, we might just see more 2D animated films coming back to the big screen, and finding just as much success on the streaming platforms that produced them.
