Legion: 11 Questions Left By The Weirdest Marvel TV Show Ever
9. When Is It Actually Set?
Much has been made of the show's unique visual flavour, as Hawley and his team have drawn inspiration from the likes of Wes Anderson and Stanley Kubrick. In particular, the show has a very 1970s-esque aesthetic, including the fashions, colour palette and set designs.
So does that mean the show is actually set in that decade? Probably not, as there are some modern inflections to the series, too. The biggest hint we have as to the time period is Oliver, as he has been trapped on the astral plane for twenty years. Going by his love of beat poetry and hippy slang, it's likely that Oliver became trapped in the 1960s. Does that mean Legion is actually set in the 80s?
Then again, the point of the show is that we are following events through David's fractured perspective. So what if it is set in the present but his incredible mental powers mean that David perceives his own warped version of reality? Maybe he's a Kubrick fan?
