Locke & Key: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
2. Nina Locke
Portrayed by Darby Stanchfield, Nina is the matriarch of the Locke family who, like her children, is grieving the loss of her husband Rendell Locke. She comes to Keyhouse in order to give her family a fresh start but, as the series goes on, we learn that she actually came to town in a bid to learn more about her husband's childhood and how that ultimately led to his death.
What makes her character journey so engaging is the fact that, even though she spends most of the season in the dark about the supernatural demons that lurk in Matheson, she's fighting her own demons from her past (alcoholism) as she's desperately attempting to hold it together for her children. But it's that lack of knowledge about Keyhouse's history that drives much of the narrative forward because, as Nina uncovers the mystery, so do we.
While some of her journey is frustrating, Stanchfield ensures that Nina remains one of - if not the - most compelling characters Locke & Key has to offer.
