Though Rendell Locke is no longer with his loved ones in the present, the show does a fine job of allowing us to get to know him through a series of carefully-placed flashbacks.

A great father to his kids, loving husband to his wife and committed guidance counselor to the students of his school, Rendell was a good man through-and-through who spent his life attempting to move on from his troubled past - and, having done so, he really did deserve so much better.
