Love, Death & Robots: 9 Reasons You MUST Watch
3. There Are Adult Themes
In addition to violence and gore, the series explores many other adult themes as it’s an animated series pretty much aimed at mature and messed up adults. Aside from themes of the obvious love and death, it also touches upon heavier subjects such as suicide and sexual abuse.
However, the most glaringly obvious adult themes throughout the series are sex, nudity and, more specifically, sexualised violence. The series may as well be called Sex, Death & Robots as erotica seeps into most episodes. It isn’t for everyone, but it will certainly be thoroughly enjoyed by many.
It’s great to see a series that is allowed to be fully “adult” and show so much, but there are many instances that feel very style over substance. However, there are times where it works really well and the animation styles really help to make it a unique experience.
Whilst adult themes are a staple of Love, Death & Robots, they don’t take over every episode. There are some which are explored through much lighter tones, especially episodes such as Three Robots and Ice Age.
