9. The Overuse Of Cross-Cutting Can Be Jarring

Something that will be discussed later is the great dynamic and disparity between Cloak & Dagger's two leads. However, one of the ways the show goes about getting their dynamic across gets a bit tiresome after about halfway through the first episode.

Cloak & Dagger utilizes the cross-cutting technique to show what each lead is doing at a given point in time and how it contrasts against what the other is up to.

At certain points, the cross-cutting works fantastically. For instance, the scene where Tyrone is playing in a school basketball game while Tandy robs a house is excellent.

After that, however, the cross-cutting not only becomes a bit superfluous, but also hinders certain scenes. The cuts just become too many and too close together for certain action sequences to really work.

This problem is most apparent in the first episode and while they did tone things down in the second, it was still present. Hopefully, the show will continue to phase the excessive cross-cutting out.
