Marvel's Luke Cage: 44 Easter Eggs You Probably Missed
8. The Religious Symbolism
For all intents and purposes, Luke is Harlem's Jesus. They literally talk about him in those terms, and frame the method of killing him as "say you want to kill Jesus."
Oh, and the bullet is made from the delightfully named Judas metal. It's not exactly subtle.
Elsewhere, Luke talks about his cross to bear, there's scripture quotes all over the place (not least by Diamondback) and Claire's attempts to heal Luke are very much of the same sort of imagery as Thomas putting his hand inside Christ's mortal wound.
And then there's the Cain and Abel allegory: Diamondback uses the story as the frame for his story about his relationship with his brother, echoing the "I am my brother's keeper" after Luke himself uses it when he discovers their linked past.
And of course Diamondback sees himself as Death incarnate.
