Marvel's Luke Cage: Ranking Every Major Character From Worst To Best

8. Claire Temple (And Her Mom)

Luke Cage Characters

Finest Moment: Taking down the mugger.

Claire Temple's introduction to the show is particularly memorable: having walked out of her job on principle in Daredevil season 2, the show needed to announce her with a bang. And instead of her simply being a nurse somewhere else, she's presented as a wiser head (albeit one marked by cynicism and fear after that zombie ninja encounter) who has toughened up a bit. Enough, in fact, to chase down and beat up a mugger who makes the mistake of stealing her bag.

She's relegated a little to romantic interest as the show develops, but she still proves herself useful after the hostage situation when she patches up Misty and then escapes to find Luke. So not quite the damsel she could have been. And she continues to be welcome as an ongoing character for all of the Defenders series.

Her mom meanwhile is a nice addition to the show's mythology: a sort of grizzled cynic who tries to teach her to see the best in people. She's a strange island of hope for superheroes in a world trying to crush them.
