3. Plot Twist: Frank Killed Zubair (Episode 12, "Home")

The penultimate episode opens with a clanger of a plot twist, as Frank is providing a deposition to Dinah regarding his part in Operation Cerberus and the death of Ahmad Zubair.

Though audiences are led to believe that Billy Russo was most likely the man who pulled the trigger on Zubair, Frank reveals that it was in fact him who did it, to Dinah's huge shock and disgust.

This was a neat way to riff on Frank's extremely grey moral compass: rather than have the killer be a more definitive villain such as Russo, Agent Orange or Schoonover, it was the supposed "hero" of the story.

Of course, The Punisher's not really a hero, at least not in the traditional sense, and having him commit such an atrocious act on an innocent man just cemented that, no, we're really not supposed to like Frank Castle all that much.
