Marvel’s The Defenders: 9 New Details Netflix Just Revealed
8. Where The Defenders Start Off
The Defenders won't be taking too major a leap forward in time. While it is its own thing, it also has to feel like a natural continuation of these four shows. Daredevil as a third season on the way; Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and (presumably) Iron Fist will all have a second. This, then, is like a mid-point, filling the gap between those seasons, and means where we meet the heroes will pick up - to an extent - from where we last saw them.
For Daredevil, that means he's still reeling from the death of Elektra. Charlie Cox has described his character as feeling "lost" at the start of The Defenders, and torn between whether he should or shouldn't be a vigilante.
Jessica Jones, meanwhile, suddenly finds herself busier and more popular than ever after defeating Kilgrave, something she is - unsurprisingly - totally unequipped at dealing with, with Krysten Ritter saying:
"She hasn’t changed, but her environment has, and there’s no handbook for how to exist in a world where you are now popular."
Luke Cage ended his season on a different note - ending up behind bars. Of course, he won't be staying there for the duration, though it looks like that's where he'll start off. But more important is that his secret is out in the open, which - according to Mike Colter - gives him a "different approach" to life.
As for Danny Rand, well, we don't even know what'll happen in his first season, nor how it'll end. But if Iron Fist is his origin story, then The Defenders will see him getting much more comfortable and "at ease" with superhero life, says Finn Jones.
