7. The Blacksmith

The origin of the villain The Blacksmith's name is a little complex, unless you're really paying attention. In the comics, he's a Skrull, which obviously bears no resemblance to Clancy Brown's character in the show, but you have to think in more linear terms to get the link. The Skrull are a race of shapeshifters, which massively telegraphs the fact that the Blacksmith isn't what he first appears to be. And the revelation that he's really Brown's character Colonel Schoonover has its own Easter Egg; he's named in reference to Marvel Comics artist Brent Schoonover.
