Marvel's Daredevil Season 3: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

5. Don't Expect Future Netflix Crossovers

While this is part of a larger world, references to it are few and far between. Daredevil does mention other heroes at one point, but insists this is his fight, and then right at the end there's a line about Jessica Jones. As far as crossovers go, it's not exactly Danny Rand popping up in Luke Cage, or Claire Temple (who is once again missing) appearing all over New York.

That line about Jessica Jones might actually be the most telling, because it essentially says that, while they're aware of her existence, they won't be working with her anytime soon. With Netflix cancelling Iron Fist and Luke Cage, and future series also in doubt (though we are getting Jessica Jones Season 3 and The Punisher Season 2), it does seem like they've realised these shows - outside of Iron Fist and Cage - work better separately than they do as part of The Defenders, and we shouldn't expect to see Jones, Temple, or Frank Castle appearing alongside Matt anytime in the future.
