While Luke Cage hasn’t even aired yet, people have already turned their attention to the Netflix series that will follow it. Iron Fist has just started filming and fans are justifiably excited to see the introduction of martial arts master Danny Rand to the MCU.

But if Luke Cage wants to do right by everyone, then maybe we won’t have to wait until that series to meet him. Just as Jessica Jones did with Luke, this would be a perfect opportunity to softly introduce Marvel’s newest hero while also affording Luke a much-needed friendship.

Cage and Rand are best friends in the comics and it’s likely they’ll end up sharing a similar bond on screen, if they don’t already. So while this relationship would benefit Iron Fist as a backdoor introduction to the character, it would also uproot Luke Cage's serious dynamic and give him a positive influence in his life.

We've seen Cage come off as a sullen and brooding character but the fun-loving Rand brings out the lighter side to him. Having his best friend around, even for a few episodes, could really brighten up Cage's character, and give him an outlet with which to express some of his emotions.
