Mr. Robot: 21 WTF Moments That Left Fans Stunned

The highly-anticipated showdown between Elliot and Whiterose had been built up for the longest time and it certainly didn't disappoint fans. The two have been playing a high stakes game of chess for four seasons. However, with Elliot taking all of the Dark Army's funds and re-distributing their wealth around the world, it was time for Whiterose's final move.

After travelling to Washington Township to find and destroy Whiterose's massive project, he comes face-to-face with her himself after being found by her henchman. His attempts to stop her machine have failed because it was already running by the time he got there. Even though all seems lost for Elliot, he still wants to try and understand why she's committed so many heinous crimes.

It's a brilliant back-and-forth conversation between the two, with both Rami Malek and BD Wong getting opportunities to flex their acting chops. Their meeting reaches a climax once the alarm goes off due to the reactor overheating. While Elliot is panicking, Whiterose remains calm due to her belief that even if she dies, she will be reborn in a new world. To prove her point even further, she pulls out a gun and shoots herself in the head.

Considering she's been the big bad of the entire series, it wasn't how most expected her to die. However, anyone who watches this show already knows that Sam Esmail isn't afraid to kill off a character in unpredictable ways.
