Netflix's Love, Death & Robots: All 18 Episodes, Ranked Worst To Best
4. The Secret War
Elite units of the Red Army fight an unholy evil deep in the ancient forests of Siberia.
The CG feels like one of the best cut scenes you’ve ever witness, then the end turns out to be one of the best-directed action sequences in animated history. The story is just jabber for how the nasties came to be, but it’s all setup to showcase a suicide mission for the soldiers against the foreign adversary.
The gore is cranked up to 11 as the Russian soldiers do their best to hold off the invasion, and their best is pretty graphic. The very last shot may seem anticlimactic to some but felt a clever way to finish without spoon feeding. Military action seems to be a constant theme in the series with The Secret War having far and away the best choreography (if that’s what it’s still called in animation).
Luckily, The Secret War is the last of the episodes to be just fodder for a brilliant scene at the end with the top three being dazzling from first frame to last.
