1. Charles "Trip" Tucker III
Stop screaming fanboys. Yes, we could bring back Trip. Sure, he wasn't the most popular character from the most popular version of the show. Yes, it would completely wreck the Enterprise relaunch books. But I for one would love to see it, almost as a gift to the fans that the new show doesn't want to be the cruddy version of Enterprise and instead wants to give the viewers what they want. For those that don't know, Trip was killed in the last television episode of a Star Trek series to be shown. He was also given the most pitiful death you've ever seen on television. On a daily basis it seemed that he would get into worse scrapes than he did in that episode, but for some reason he did the equivalent of licking his fingers and deciding to use his body to complete a circuit. Despite him being the best engineer in Starfleet at the time. The books sought to fix this in the non-canon way by having him become a spy on Romulus with his death intending to be a complete cover up. But what if Trip was actually dragged into the future for some Temporal Cold War type thing (because the new series could also answer the question of who Future Guy actually was perhaps it was Trip himself). But bringing him into the future for a series would leave him entirely as a fish out of water, especially if the new series has a ship with transwarp capabilities (which I would suggest if we really wanted it to boldly go where no one has gone before). It would be interesting as he could effectively be that third person perspective on the other characters because he would be stranded out of time, knowing that he could not return as his "death" was ultimately required for the formation of the Federation.
