Only Fools And Horses: Ranking All The Main Characters From Worst To Best
6. Raquel Turner
Del Boy’s ‘significant other,’ Raquel Turner originally appeared as a one-off character in the 1988 Christmas Special, ‘Dates.’ The kind but desperately struggling actress served as Del's new love interest, and Tessa Peake-Jones and David Jason had instant chemistry on screen.
After leaving at the end of the episode, Raquel returned full-time after ‘The Jolly Boys Outing’ special the following year. Raquel was working as a magician’s assistant in Margate, and Del had happened to be in the audience one night.
From there, Raquel remained as Del Boy’s partner throughout the show and was a necessary addition for Trotter to mature into a modern man.
Raquel is the main ingredient for the most sentimental moment in the show after she gave birth to Damien. The episode, ‘Three Men, a Woman and a Baby’ concludes with Trotter holding his newborn by an open window, introducing the baby to Del Boy’s deceased mother, Joan.
Raquel is the perfect companion for Del, as she is a strong woman who isn’t easily fooled by the trickster. Her motivations of having a secure household complement the overall themes of the series magnificently.
